Bandits Block Akure-Ado Ekiti Road, Abduct Several Passengers

A group of suspected bandits launched a violent attack on the Akure-Ado Ekiti road on Thursday evening, kidnapping several passengers in the process.

The attack took place near the Ikere Ekiti-Iju area, which is the border between Ondo and Ekiti States.

According to eyewitnesses, the bandits shot at the vehicles on the road, forcing them to stop. They then dragged the passengers out of their cars and took them to the bush. The victims were travelling in two vehicles; a Toyota Corolla and a white Highlander.

The security agencies, including the Ondo State Amotekun and the Police, were alerted about the incident, but they arrived too late to rescue the victims. The bandits had already escaped with their captives.

The residents of the area expressed their frustration over the frequent kidnappings on the road, which they blamed on the poor condition of the road.

They said that the road was full of potholes and gullies, making it difficult and dangerous to travel between Ado-Ekiti and Akure. They appealed to the government to repair the road and improve the security situation.
