Driver Dies of Heart Attack While Driving in Osogbo Road Crash

A tragic road accident claimed the life of a mini commercial bus driver, known as Korope, and injured four passengers in Osogbo, the capital of Osun state, on Wednesday.

The driver reportedly suffered a heart attack while driving and lost control of the vehicle, which collided with a parked car at the Ola-iya overhead bridge.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved a mini Intercity bus with registration number FNN836XA and a Toyota Camry with LND546FC.

The driver of the bus slumped on the wheel and died instantly, while a passenger tried to steer the bus away from oncoming traffic. Another passenger jumped out of the moving bus and sustained injuries on her head and eyes.

The accident scene was chaotic as people tried to rescue the victims and alert the authorities. Funmilayo, a witness, said that the accident involved five people; one male and four females. She said that four of them were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the driver’s body was taken to a morgue.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Osun, Mr Henry Benamaisia, confirmed the accident and said that the driver of the mini bus had a cardiac arrest while driving. He said that the FRSC officials arrived at the scene and cleared the road for smooth traffic flow. He also advised drivers to undergo regular medical check-ups and avoid over-speeding and reckless driving.
