EFCC Launches Task Force to Combat Currency Mutilation and Dollarization
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has set up a Special Task Force in all its Zonal Commands to enforce the laws against currency mutilation and dollarization of the economy. This was announced by its Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in a statement on Wednesday, in Abuja.
He said that the Task Force, which was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr Ola Olukoyede, was aimed at protecting the economy from illegal practices that undermine its stability and growth.
He said that the Commission had already arrested some offenders who issued invoices in dollars and mutilated the Naira in Lagos and Port Harcourt.
He also said that the Commission had invited the owners of private Universities and other higher institutions that charged fees in dollars to explain their actions.
He said that the Commission was determined to enforce all the laws that would help to revive and boost the economy.
