Herdsmen Attack Amotekun Operatives in Osun, Injure Three

The Western Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has reported an attack on its personnel by suspected herdsmen in Kajola village, Osun State.

According to Yusuf Idowu, the spokesperson of the security outfit, the attack happened on Saturday after some farmers in the village, which is located along the Osogbo/Ilesa Road, complained that herdsmen were grazing their cows on their farms and destroying their crops.

Idowu told DAILY POST that Amotekun operatives were deployed to the area to address the situation, but they were met with resistance by the armed herdsmen, who shot at them. He said that the Amotekun men did not retreat, but continued to move towards the herdsmen, who then used their cows to attack them.

He said that three Amotekun operatives were injured in the clash, and they are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Kankara. He said that the herdsmen escaped into the bush, leaving their cows behind. He said that normalcy has been restored to the area.

He said that the security outfit decided to intervene in the matter because farmers in Osun State had been seeking relief from the menace of herdsmen since January 2024. He said that Amotekun was committed to protecting the lives and properties of the people of Osun State.
