How Tinubu, Shettima resisted Ganduje’s plot to manipulate Kano governorship case

The Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf, has revealed how the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Kano governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, tried to use President Bola Tinubu to tamper with the Supreme Court verdict on the Kano governorship election.

Yusuf made this disclosure in a statement released by his media aide, Bature Tofa, on Sunday.

He commended the president for standing firm against Ganduje’s alleged machinations.

Daily24Apps reports that the Supreme Court upheld Yusuf’s victory in the March 18, 2023 governorship election on Friday, after the lower courts had annulled his victory.

In the statement, Yusuf also expressed his gratitude to Tinubu and Shettima for their integrity and loyalty despite alleged pressure from Ganduje to influence the court judgement.

The statement quoted Yusuf as saying, “The failed attempt by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to use the Presidency to meddle in the Supreme Court’s decision in favour of Gawuna shows that Tinubu and Shettima are true leaders who value Nigeria’s democracy and justice.”

Yusuf also reached out to his opponent, Nasiru Gawuna, who lost in the Supreme Court. He said, “I urge my opponents and their supporters to join hands with me in the task of developing our dear state of Kano for the welfare of its people.”
