Kidnapper who killed two monarchs in Ekiti remanded in prison
A 25-year-old man, Bubuga Lede, who allegedly kidnapped and killed two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti. The court ordered that he should be kept in prison for 30 days while awaiting legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The police prosecutor, Inspector Osuolale Yomi, told the court that the defendant was involved in a criminal conspiracy to kidnap, attempt to murder and murder of Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin and Oba Samuel Olatunde Ishola. He also said that the defendant tried to kidnap Oba Samuel Adebayo Fatoba and his driver, Bamidele Ibikunle Joseph.
The prosecutor said that the offences were contrary to Section 280, 241 and 234 of the Criminal Code Law of Ekiti State 2021. He said that the defendant was arrested in Ikole-Ekiti on January 29 with weapons that he used for the crime. He said that the case file has been sent to the DPP for legal advice.
The defendant was represented by Barrister Olusoji Oladele, who did not object to the remand order. The Magistrate, O. F. Bamidele, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Custody for 30 days and adjourned the case till April 24.
