Oluwo of Iwo Boasts of Divine Protection, Says He Can’t Be Kidnapped Or Assassinated, Urges Fellow Monarchs to Shun Deities

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbduraRasheed Akanbi, has boasted that he is immune to kidnapping or assassination by criminals. He said that he does not depend on deities for his security, but on the Almighty God. He made this declaration while addressing journalists in his palace on Wednesday.

The monarch also advised other traditional rulers to abandon their reliance on deities and embrace God as their protector.

He said that deities would only bring disgrace to their thrones and their people. He quoted his words:

“I am telling you right here that no one would dare attempt to kidnap or mark me for assassination. I am covered by God’s protection, not any deity or gods.

“I am using this opportunity to call on my colleague monarchs to stop putting their hopes on deities and return everything to the almighty God whom they represent.”

His statement came at a time when some traditional rulers in the country were killed or kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

On Monday, the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsola, were shot dead while returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Also, the Koro of Olukoro, General Segun Aremu (retd), in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, was murdered in his palace, while his wife was abducted by the assailants.
