Police Arrests Pastor and Two Accomplices for Trafficking 12 Children

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has nabbed a pastor and two other men for their involvement in child trafficking. The trio was caught on Friday night while transporting 12 children, aged between five and 16 years, from Nasarawa State to Ogun State.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, who issued a statement on Saturday, the suspects are Simon Kado, his relative Jesse Simon-Kado, and their driver Muhammad Isah. They were driving a Toyota Hiace bus with the plate number APP 489 XE when they were stopped by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad 74 around 12:55 am.

Adeh said that the preliminary investigation showed that the children, who all came from Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, were being taken to Ogun State by Pastor Simon Kado and Jesse Simon-Kado. The suspects are currently in police custody.

She added that the FCT Police Command is working with the Nasarawa State Police Command to reunite the victims with their families. She also quoted the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Benneth Igweh, as saying that the safety of residents is his top priority.
