Tragedy Strikes in Ondo as Staff Dies at Work

A staff of the Ondo East Local Government Area, identified as Matthew, has died at his office in Bolorunduro, Ondo State. According to reports by Daily24App on Saturday, Matthew slumped and died at his workplace on Friday.

Matthew, who lived in Elemosi in Ondo town, had arrived at work on Friday and had his breakfast in his car parked within the LGA premises. He then resumed his duties and chatted with his colleagues. However, he suddenly collapsed and could not be revived by his co-workers.

A colleague of the deceased, who spoke to Daily Trust on the condition of anonymity, said that Matthew had no signs of illness before his death. He said that they rushed him to the hospital at Bolorunduro, but the doctors confirmed that he was dead on arrival. He described his death as shocking and unimaginable.

Daily24App reported that it tried to reach out to the deceased’s wife, but was unsuccessful as she was in mourning. A family source, however, disclosed that the immediate family of the deceased was making arrangements for his burial.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident to the press, stating that the police were investigating the actual cause of the death of the deceased. She added that his corpse had been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
