Women to Get 35% Quota in Federal Fire Service Recruitment, Says Interior Minister

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced that women will be given a 35 per cent quota in the ongoing recruitment of federal fire service operatives. He made this announcement on his official X account on Friday.

Tunji-Ojo, who is also the Chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), said that this was part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s #RenewedHope agenda to empower women and increase their representation in critical sectors.

He wrote: “As the Chairman of the CDCFIB, I have approved a 35 per cent recruitment slot for women into the agencies under the Ministry of Interior, starting with the Federal Fire Service. This is in line with President Tinubu’s vision to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in Nigeria.”

The minister urged qualified and interested women to apply for the federal fire service recruitment, which commenced on 27th December last year. He said that the recruitment process would be transparent, fair, and merit-based. He also commended the federal fire service for its efforts in combating fire outbreaks and saving lives and properties across the country.
