JAMB opens registration for 2024/2025 UTME, reveals accredited CBT centres

The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has commenced the registration for the 2024/2025 Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME). The registration will run from today until February 24, 2024.

JAMB Registrar Ishaq Oloyede said that the Board has put in place measures to ensure a smooth registration process for candidates across the country. He spoke at a meeting with media executives in Lagos State on Sunday.

Oloyede said, “Before the registration exercise, the Board conducts an accreditation exercise to verify the readiness of each CBT Centre for the conduct of its examination.”

He explained that the accreditation team for the 2024 UTME Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres consists of Chief External Examiners (VCs/Rectors/Provosts), Technical Advisors, JAMB state coordinators, and JAMB Technical Officers.

According to the presentation shared with stakeholders, candidates need to create a profile using their National Identity Number at any of the approved CBT centres nationwide. They also need to register by generating their profiles using either JAMB USS codes 55019 or 66019.

Oloyede stressed the importance of using only one USS code to avoid multiple charges. He said that this step is mandatory for candidates, as it serves as a unique verification tool for thumbprinting to complete the registration process.

The registration fee for the 2024 UTME is N3,500, and the payment method is cashless to prevent any form of extortion.

Daily24Apps reported that JAMB has accredited 747 CBT centres for the 2024 UTME nationwide, which is an increase of 134 CBT centres from the 613 approved centres in 2023. This shows a growth of CBT centres for the matriculation examinations this year.

Lagos has the highest number of accredited centres for the 2024 UTME, with 80 centres, followed by Ogun with 44, and Oyo with 42 centres. Zamfara has the lowest number of accredited centres, with only 6, while Ebonyi and Kebbi States have 8 centres each.

Daily24Apps also revealed that the South-West geopolitical zone has the most CBT centres, with 226, while the North-East has the least, with only 67 centres.
