Nigerian Cybersecurity Expert Dies in UK After Graduation
A Nigerian cybersecurity expert, Oluwaseun Bello, passed away in the United Kingdom shortly after completing her studies at the University of Bradford.
The Nigerian community association in the UK announced her death on their official X account on Monday and appealed for donations to help her family with the burial expenses.
Bello, who died on January 1, 2024, is survived by her husband and three children. She was described by her colleagues and friends as a wonderful person who always supported her loved ones. The cause of her death was not disclosed.
In a related development, some hoodlums caused chaos at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, on Monday morning. They invaded the hospital and vandalised its Accident and Emergency Complex after a man died there. They also attacked the staff and removed the corpse of the deceased.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Kayode Olabanji, issued a statement condemning the violence and assuring that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. He said the management and the police had met with the state Chairman of the Road Transport Association, who was asked to produce the ring leader of the hoodlums.
Olabanji also said the security of the hospital had been beefed up with armed policemen and frequent patrols. He appealed to the staff to remain calm and not to allow any intimidation or harassment while performing their duties. He said the hospital would not tolerate any act of mayhem or lawlessness on its premises.
